STUDENT DRESS CODE FOR THE 2007-2008 SCHOOL YEAR

Dress and Grooming
While fashions change, the reason for being in school does not. Students are in school to learn. Any fashion (dress, accessory, or hairstyle) that disrupts the educational process or presents a safety risk will not be permitted. Personal expression is permitted within these general guidelines:

 

  • Students are required to wear the school uniform every day.
  • The colors are khaki or navy blue bottoms and grey, white, pale yellow or baby blue tops. The uniform guidelines are as follows:
    • Bottoms (Khaki or Navy) Tops (White, Grey, Pale Yellow, Light Blue)
      • Pants
      • Polo
      • Shirt
      • Turtlenecks
      • Shorts *
      • Skirts *
      • Jumpers *
      • Collared Button-down shirt or blouse
      • Skorts *

      *All shorts, skirts, jumpers, and skorts must not be any shorter than 1 inch above the knee.

    • Shoes, Belts and Accessories
      • Black, Dress Black
      • Brown, Dress Brown
      • Blue, Dress Blue

    • Gym Clothes
      • All white tennis shoes
      • Navy blue sweat pants
      • School uniform shirt or optional school designated t-shirt.

If a student has selected a manner of appearance that is beyond mere freedom of expression and disrupts the educational process or presents a risk to themselves or others, they may be removed from the educational setting, and be subject to penalty under the Student Code of Conduct.

In the event that the school allows a dress-down day, the following styles or manner of dress are NOT PERMITTED:

  1. Clothing that is disruptive to the educational process.
  2. Cut-off tops, half shirts, mesh shirts, tank tops, short shorts, and short skirts.
  3. Items of clothing that contain profanity, suggestive comments or obscenities.
  4. Clothing, which advertises, or advocates drug or alcohol use.
  5. Not wearing shoes at all times (students should have inside and outside shoes, particularly in the winter and when the playground is muddy.)
  6. Wearing of hats in the building.
  7. Students cannot dye their hair an unnatural color.
  8. Clothing must cover all tattoos and body piercing is unacceptable; single post ear piercing is acceptable.
  9. Dangling earrings are not acceptable.

Students who are representing the school at an official function or public event may be required to follow specific dress requirements.
