Purposes of PTO

To promote the welfare of children and youth in the home, the school, community and place of worship;

  • To raise the standard of home life;

  • To bring into a closer the relationship the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth;

  • To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social and spiritual education.

The Mission of PTO

  • To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community, and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children;

  • To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children; and

  • To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.

Standards of Parent Involvement

  1. Communication- Communication between the home and the school shall be regular, two-way and meaningful.

  2. Parenting Parenting skills are promoted and supported.

  3. Student Learning- Parents play an integral role in assisting student learning.

  4. Volunteering- Parents are welcome in the school, and their support and assistance are sought.

  5. Collaborating with the Community- Community Resources are used to strengthen schools, families, and student learning.
